Compared to most of the petrol powered cars, a methane powered car has a 70% reduction in CO emissions, 89% reduction in volatile compounds and almost inexistent levels of toxic contaminants.
Due to the closed combustion system, methane powered vehicles do not suffer fuel evaporation and there are almost inexistent levels of losses during refuelling.
Substituting an old petrol or diesel powered vehicle with a new methane powered vehicle allows for the following emission reductions:
- carbon monoxide (CO) min 70% max 90%
- C2-C12 (NMHC) min 50% max 75%
- nitrogen oxide (NOx) dal 75% al 95%
- carbon dioxide (CO2) min 20% max 30%
Recent analysis show that methane powered vehicles cut greenhouse gasses up to 30% compared to petrol or diesel powered vehicles. Moreover, natural gas is neither toxic nor corrosive and doesn’t contaminate water supplies of cities. In certain urban regions, the exhaust gas from a methane powered vehicle is cleaner than the actual city air.
